Thigh Lift

Introduction to Thigh Lift

The term “thigh gap” refers to the space between your inner thighs when you stand together with your feet and knees. The look was made famous a few years ago, primarily by celebrities and super-thin models. Realistically, trimming down the thighs through diet and exercise is generally very difficult for most women, but many men have this issue with their thighs as well. With advancements in technology, it’s possible to create ample space between your thighs using procedures like a thigh lift or liposuction.

What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. If fitness and weight control efforts have yet to achieve your goals for a firmer, more youthful-looking, and more proportionate body image, a surgical lift may be right for you.

Now that you know what a thigh lift can do, it’s important to share what it cannot do. Thigh lifts are not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where the skin has good elasticity and can naturally conform to new body contours. A thigh lift and liposuction may be recommended when skin elasticity is poor.

Inner Thigh Lift

Even after successful weight loss, the skin on the inner thighs may not contract well due to your skin’s elasticity. It can leave loose skin to rub together with each step, often causing painful irritation. Inner and outer thigh lift surgery can help. An inner thigh lift targets the inner thighs, removing excess fat and skin and tightening the remaining skin.

Outer Thigh Lift

The upper leg is a naturally preferred deposit area for stubborn fat. The outer thighs often develop cellulite, causing the skin to have an unwanted “cottage cheese” appearance. The outer thigh lift, sometimes called a bilateral thigh lift, is designed to improve the appearance of the front and outer portion of the thigh. This type of thigh lift is beneficial if you have a large amount of excess skin in the thigh area. The procedure will leave you with tighter, smoother skin.

What Are the Benefits of a Thigh Lift?

Our Houston thigh lift patients have seen some of the benefits from their surgery:

  • Muscles look more toned
  • Thighs are slimmer
  • Excess skin is reduced
  • Smoother skin
  • Highlights your natural shape
  • Enhances confidence in your upper leg areas

Who Are the Best Candidates for a Thigh Lift?

The best candidates for a thigh lift in Houston are those looking to tone up your thighs, get rid of excess or sagging skin, and smoothen the skin on your thighs. You should be in good health and maintain realistic expectations for your final procedure results. The following instances may make you a good candidate for thigh lift surgery:

  • Excess skin and tissue
  • Stable weight
  • Good general health
  • Non-smokers
  • Realistic expectations

We don’t recommend a thigh lift if you are looking for weight reduction or weight loss. We will never recommend a procedure if we don’t think it would benefit you. The most important step to achieving your ideal body is to choose procedures that will benefit you, and Dr. Hankins will help guide your decision-making process.

Keep in mind that no two bodies are the same. The same treatment applied to different women may have very different results.

Thigh Lift First Step

What’s the
first step?

The first step toward a thigh lift procedure is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Christopher Hankins at Premier Plastic Surgery. During this initial meeting, you can discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations regarding the surgery. Dr. Hankins will provide detailed information about the thigh lift, including the surgical techniques, potential risks and complications, and the expected recovery process.

If you decide to proceed with the procedure, Dr. Hankins will create a surgical plan tailored to your unique needs and desired outcomes. Once this plan has been made, our Patient Coordinator will help schedule your surgical date and provide instructions so you have a clear understanding of what to expect before, during, and after your surgery.

What to Expect on the Day of Thigh Lift Surgery

On your thigh lift surgery day, we will make you feel as comfortable as possible before you enter the procedure room. We administer general anesthesia to every patient undergoing a surgical procedure to ensure you do not feel any pain. Once the anesthesia has been administered, the surgery begins.

Dr. Hankins will use a combination of techniques to achieve your thigh lift. The first one is the inner thigh technique, where the incision is made in the groin and extends downward, wrapping around the back of the thigh or from the groin down to the knee. An outer thigh incision is made from the groin that extends along your natural contour around the hip to the back. Both techniques allow for hidden incisions that can be covered with most types of clothing and swimsuits. Once he is complete, Dr. Hankins will close the incisions and apply protective bandages.

The surgery can take approximately two to four hours, depending on the treatment and techniques used.

Thigh Lift Recovery

Once the surgery is complete, we give you time to recover in our comfortable waiting room before leaving the clinic. Our medical staff will give you information on the best type of pain management so that you can ease into your recovery period comfortably. It is important to follow the post-surgical recovery instructions from Dr. Hankins and his team, as they want you to heal as quickly as possible so that you can see the incredible results you’ve been waiting for.

During recovery from your thigh lift, you may experience pain, swelling, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed medication and compression. Rest and limited activity are recommended in the first week, with compression garments worn to minimize swelling. As the weeks progress, swelling and bruising should slowly disappear, and you can gradually resume light activities. Full results may take several months to appear, and attending follow-up appointments with our team is essential for monitoring progress and addressing any concerns.
