Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Introduction to Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation is a type of breast augmentation surgery where fat is transferred from one area of the body to the breasts for a more natural, permanent appearance and shape. The process involves using the patient’s fat, resulting in less risk of the body rejecting the procedure.

What is Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

A fat transfer breast augmentation involves removing excess body fat from one area of the body and injecting it into the breasts to add volume and shape. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the procedure is safe and creates long-lasting, natural results.

Many patients prefer a fat transfer breast augmentation procedure over receiving breast implants due to the lower risk of the body rejecting the procedure or if they choose not to receive implants at all.

What Are the Benefits of Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

Most patients who undergo a fat transfer breast augmentation may expect to receive the following:

  • Long-lasting, natural-looking results
  • Chances of rejection or an allergic reaction are reduced by using your body tissue, i.e., low to no risk of capsular contracture.

Increased volume in the breasts while losing fat in an area that doesn’t need it

Who Are the Best Candidates for Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

The best candidates for a fat transfer breast augmentation meet the following attributes:

  • Have plenty or excess body fat in an unrelated area of the body
  • Are within their target weight range
  • Have a stabilized body weight (not fluctuating)
  • Are not currently pregnant or breast-feeding

Patients should not undergo a fat transfer procedure if they do not have excess body fat stores. These patients should consider receiving implants instead.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation First Step

What’s the
first step?

Please schedule a private consultation at Premier Plastic Surgery. Dr. Hankins will be able to review your medical history and assess whether a fat transfer or implant breast augmentation surgery will be most appropriate for you.

What to Expect On the Day of Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Surgery

During the fat transfer breast augmentation procedure, our plastic surgeon, Dr. Hankins, will first use general or local anesthesia to ensure your comfort. From there, excess fat is removed from one or more areas of the body (often using liposuction), purified, and then the transferred fat cells are injected into the breasts. The number of fat injections used depends on the results you’re looking for.

Depending on the procedure, you may or may not be awake. Minor procedures can be done with local or tumescent anesthesia only, whereas more extensive procedures may require IV sedation.

Fat transfer procedures must be done incrementally to ensure the final result meets the patient’s desires, as the procedure is permanent. This may require multiple appointments to achieve the desired result.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Recovery

Patients will require special care for up to two weeks or more after surgery. Please make arrangements to have a close friend or family member retrieve you from the surgery and assist you around the house. Resting in the first few days is important—and do not reach for any shelves!

Patients may expect bruising and swelling immediately after the surgery. Eventually, these symptoms should reduce or go away, allowing you to appreciate your new breasts!

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Cost

How Much Does a Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Cost in Houston, TX?

The cost of a Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation procedure will depend on several factors, including the severity of each individual patient’s case and the number of sessions necessary to achieve the desired look. Fat transfers must be done incrementally to create a permanent look, so multiple appointments may be necessary.
